I guess this is normal now. The news continues to report Covid, RSV and flu statistics on a daily basis to stoke fear and capture attention. Some people are still wearing facemasks to the grocery store, the swimming pool and in their car when driving alone. I, and many others, are still somewhat leery of being in crowded places and avoid them for the most part.
For others, everyday life resumed more than a year ago. They’ve gone on vacations, attended events, went to concerts, traveled internationally and gathered with friends and family.
It appears that the “worker revolt and shortage” is petering out. I no longer see “We’re Hiring” signs on every storefront. Most places will continue to take advantage of the “because of Covid” excuses for poor service, delays and price increases, but we all knew that was coming.
For the entire year of 2019, before the Covid pandemic, my life was anything but normal so I still don’t really know what “normal life” is for me.
I guess it’s this.
It’s pretty good – just far different than what my life was like before 2019.
I’m happy to close the door on the pandemic chapter of my life and see what comes next.
