The heater in my pool hasn’t been working right for several weeks. Fortunately, it’s been warm outside and the heater functions enough to keep the water temperature around 79 degrees which is freezing to me, but bearable.
I gasp when I get into the water. My first few laps I can feel my arms and legs stinging from the cold. It does make me swim faster because I need to exert myself to keep from shivering uncontrollably.
What can I say? I get cold easily.
A lifeguard told me they are putting in a new boiler as soon as it arrives. They old one needed a repair but they cannot find parts for it.
The new one has been ordered, but of course, due to covid, there have been delays.
I won’t complain to the lifeguard. He can’t do anything about it. And I know the bobbers who do water aerobics gave him an earful already.
Once the new boiler is installed, the water temperature will be set to 83 degrees.
That’s 4 degrees higher than the current temp.
I find it somewhat unbelievable that I’ve become such a pansy that I dread swimming in water that’s only 4 degrees colder than my usual temp.
But I do.
It’s freezing to me. I’ll be thrilled when it’s back to normal (as will my 80 year old girlfriends in water aerobics).
