I hate not being able to do my usually workout routine – intense exercise, yoga, long dog walks and swim a mile. If I am unable to do even part of this due to injury, holiday closures, weather and other events beyond my control, it makes me nuts.
Fortunately, for most days of the year, that doesn’t happen.
But today is not one of those days.
My post-op instructions following my tooth extraction and bone graft specifically say “no intense physical activity for 24 hours”. I was prepared to disregard that as the usual overcautious post-op advice given for any procedure – rating from a vaccination to outpatient surgery to a haircut.
But, after reading a few things on dental sites, I learned that intense exercise could cause blood pressure to rise which could impact the bone graft or “pop the sutures”.
I don’t know how likely that is, but I’m not going to risk it. I’ll spend the day blogging, paining and reading instead.
When I was working, I lived for the weekends and holidays so I could spend a day off doing what I wanted to do. Now, as a retired guy, every day is like that.
Well, almost every day.
So I don’t need any days off anymore.
