I am not going to thoroughly review the solution discussed in the podcast linked above. Instead, I encourage you to listen to it.
I’ve written about gun violence in the US before. I’ve written about “lone wolf” shooters and about school shootings. But let’s face it – I don’t know shit about preventing shootings.
One solution I read about would be to make it extremely difficult for people to own guns. Although this seems impossible today, it has happened in US in the past.
What I haven’t written much about is inner city gang violence and guns. The podcast above discusses this at length and more importantly, details a program that is already working.
There’s a problem with scaling the program that they discuss as well.
I think we (as individuals – especially men) might be able to do something about this.
I’d be interested in hearing what others think and most importantly, what you are willing to do.
