A Year And A Day

It’s been exactly one year and one day since my wife died. 

I never pay much attention to anniversaries, birthdays or holidays but watching her die slowly and suffer  is seared into my memory. 

About halfway through the day yesterday, I realized I needed to shut down. This is my grief to sit with alone.

So I turned off my phone, swam hard, practiced the drums and then finished the day painting. Alone with my dog and my memories.

I miss you Babe. You made my life.
