AI Is Scraping My Blog

Posted on July 5, 2024July 6, 2024 by Steve Ainslie

Ever since ChatGPT and other LLMs burst onto the market last year, I’ve noticed an uptick in views of my blog. Every few days – especially if I’ve posted something new – the stats will show me that a “visitor” has viewed multiple posts.

I’m pretty sure it is the LLMs scanning for content to train their AIs.

I’ve tested a few AIs with “Steve Ainslie” specific prompts. It Is obvious that at least some of them have sucked up my content, just like they’ve done with everything on the internet.

Because of this, I’ve added a copyright notice on my posts. I’d love to be compensated for unauthorized commercial use of my writing by the LLMs.

I harbor no fantasy that this will ever happen for me and most people who post content online.

It won’t curtail my writing. I write for other reasons.
