An Unremarkable Man

Posted on August 12, 2021June 26, 2022 by Steve Ainslie

Well, I was right. I have another hernia.

The surgeon confirmed it yesterday.  My surgery is scheduled for later this month.

I was glad I saw the same surgeon I had before. The level of competence displayed by him, his RN and his finance specialist are top notch.

I am duly impressed.

After the visit I was reviewing my online medical records.

The visit notes included basic H&P info, diagnostic info and the following :

“53 year old… pleasant well-appearing white male in no acute distress…HEENT is unremarkable”

What I remembered after reading this report was “Unremarkable man”.

I love it.

It is a perfect description of me.

An Unremarkable Man.

I like to think I’m unique -a rebel, unconventional, a renaissance man trapped in the wrong era.

To others, I suspect I seem like an ordinary, average guy.

That’s me – Mr. Unremarkable.

It’s a brilliant description that suits me fine and brings a smile to face every time I think of it.
