When I migrated my blog to a new host a few months ago, I added a CONTACT page back to my site. I had removed this from my site earlier in the year because the only people who used it either contacted me to say something critical (two in 4 years) or to SPAM me.
I decided to add it back on the remote chance someone wanted to say something nice or even more remote, that an old friend or former colleague who didn’t have my contact info wanted to connect with me.
Over the past two months, I’ve received nothing but SPAM, clearly from bots. It filters automatically into a SPAM filter but still annoys me.
Until now.
I added a second step by using Google Captcha for any comments.
Since then, I have received nothing. No SPAM, no bot solicitations, no scams.
For now, I have conquered the bots.
They will figure out a way around this, in time. But then, I will figure out a way to block then again.
Or I’ll just take down the contact page.
