Cruisin’

Posted on September 8, 2022 by Steve Ainslie

My routine is very predictable. I do the same things everyday. I drive the same routes. I eat the same foods. I speak with the same people. Variety comes from what chores I do, the art I’m making, classes I take and stuff I do online when I’m winding down. To some people, my life might seem boring and repetitive. Not to me – I like it.

Today, I traveled to a place I usually do not visit for my Covid booster. I went to a pharmacy in Wake Forest that is literally 5 miles in the opposite direction I travel daily on my grocery store, vet and pool commute.

It’s like I drove into a different world. I saw a bunch of different restaurants and stores. The traffic was bumper to bumper on the small 2 lane “main street”. I drove through neighborhoods I haven’t seen in months (or ever).

It was kind of interesting.

I think I might enjoy getting out to new places a little more. Maybe I’ll use urban sketching as an excuse and will take a ride into these nearby smaller towns to sketch.

It could be fun.
