I am on the road. I left my old home and my old life four days ago.
First stop was near Tampa Florida to drop in to say hello (and goodbye) to an old high school friend.
From there I overnighted in a busy Wal-Mart lot in Bushnell Fl, a highway rest stop with truckers near Pensacola, a National Forest in Mississippi and tonight in a rest stop near Colorado City in Texas.

Once I got on the road I was making good time and was comfortable towing on the highway. So I decided that instead of meandering across the US over a period of weeks, I’d rather get out West quickly so I can setup my real camp and start figuring this new life out.
Well…I’m in the West at a rest stop in Southwest Texas.
After four days of driving with 2000 miles logged I’m looking forward to getting off the highway today and camping in BLM land near Carlsbad Caverns in NM.

Instagram makes me a little nuts so I plan to only use it to give quick updates on my whereabouts. I have no desire to compete with all the #vanlife #nomad millennial hotties posting semi-nude yoga poses on the beach at sunrise so if you’re expecting that from me, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
I will be blogging more once I stop driving.
