If you want my respect then handle your business.
- Unemployed and need a job? Apply for jobs. Answer ads. Ask friends and family for referrals. Apply to hundreds of jobs. Take any job that gets you moving in the right direction.
- Can’t make ends meet? Spend less. Look for a better paying job or a part time gig to supplement your income. I recommend doing both. That’s how I dug my way out of debt and living paycheck to paycheck.
- Overweight? Change what you eat. There’s hundreds of ways to lose weight and free information on this everywhere. My personal favorites include: Primal, Paleo, Keto and Carnivore because I can lose weight while not feeling like I am always hungry. The best way to lose weight is through dieting. You cannot outrun a Snickers Bar (or a jar of peanut butter, a half gallon of ice cream and takeout 3 times a week). Trust me, I’ve tried.
- Out of Shape? Start walking. Every day. At least an hour. No special training or equipment required. Then move on to other full body weight bearing exercise programs. If you can’t get up and down off the floor and squat easily, you’re in trouble. After 3 decades of working out, my favorite programs are GMB.io, Tacfit Commando and Prasara Yoga.
- House a Mess? Clean it up.
- Family/Friend issues? Make amends. Forgive. Or separate. You already know what to do – you just don’t want to do it.
Complaining and feeling self-pity has never resulted in anything good for me. I doubt they will for you either.
So take action. Almost any action is better than wallowing and doing nothing. Even if the results aren’t want you wanted (see my posts under On the Road) you will move forward.
If you choose to wallow, don’t be surprised when your friends, family and supporters fade away. People have a tendency to do that. A few may stick around long term, but they’re not having fun.
