I revamped my website and published over 50 new posts since I’ve been on restricted activity while I recover from my hernia surgery.
I also decided to allow comments on all posts and added a simple contact page. I had removed these because of SPAM and bots but found what appears to be an effective filter for these.
When I had comment enabled in the past, the non-SPAM comments were insightful and thoughtful – unlike comments on YouTube or Twitter. Through previous comments, I made a new friend, reconnected with old ones, and found a few blogs to follow. I anticipate this trend will continue with my occasional readers.
I worked my way up to taking long walks with Wiggles 4 times a day and short walks with both dogs another 3-4 times. I really enjoy walking, but was jonesing for two weeks while waiting to get back to the pool and working out.
My Netflix experiment last 8 days before I ran out of anything I was remotely interested in watching. I cancelled but still have 22 days left in case I get so bored that I’m willing to watch dreck. I watched a few good movies (The Taking of Pelham 123 and it’s remake) and am currently watching “Designated Survivor”. I keep wanting it to be as good as 24 was because Kiefer Sutherland stars in it. It keeps disappointing due to a formulaic script and banal character development.
Other than that, our summer heat wave finally broke. Temps are dropping into the high 50s at night and peaking in the 80s most afternoons. It’s absolutely lovely.
I’m looking forward to fall and working out like a madman again as soon as my recovery permits.
Lastly, I put on about 5 lbs of pure fat in the past month. I am now 8-10 pounds over what I consider my ideal weight (135). I know exactly how this happened. I’ve been eating too much mindlessly. I eat a meal and then I continue to graze – without thinking, “Am I really hungry?”
Well, I know what I need to do t get out of that rut. I started it today. Once I get back into the routine of mindfully eating, the weight will come off and I’ll feel better about myself (and my waistline).
