I was listening to a podcast discussing the growing wealth gap/income inequality between the average US household and the top .1%.
It is huge and getting even bigger.
Whatever.
This is nothing new. The poor have always been getting f**ked over
People talk incessantly about the the glory days of the US in the 1950s when we had a thriving economy, significant manufacturing and a substantial middle class.
Based on my personal experiences and my study of history, I’m not buying it.
Income inequality is the norm.
The wealthy always win. They get the greatest rewards. They have the most power and prestige. They have the best lives that “money can buy”. Of course they rig the system to their benefit.
This has been happening for 1000s of years, if not longer.
Think about monarchs and peasants. Dictators and their citizens. Communist & socialist leaders and the “working class”. Billionaires Oligarchs and average consumers. Slave owners and slaves.
This is the norm.
Occasionally, conditions get bad enough for the poorest underclass to rebel with protests, violence and on the latest of occasions, revolution.
Then, with few (no?) exceptions, the new installed leadership amass wealth & power while suppressing the poor.
Income equality, fairness and justice are all false hopes.
There is no point in pretending otherwise.
