Masking Our Stupidity

Posted on August 25, 2021September 4, 2021 by Steve Ainslie

I took a Lyft to the hospital for my surgery this morning.

Lyft has “safety” policies in place which include:

    • Masking for drivers and riders
    • Opening windows to allow fresh air circulation.

How did this go?

My driver wore a surgical mask under his nose. While I wore a cloth mask over my nose and mouth. So we were fully protected from swapping spit. As for aerosolized Covid particles, not so much.

The driver blasted the AC the entire time with no windows open.

He told me he recently visited France (so if Covid Delta was raging there or he was exposed on any of his international flights, airports or anywhere in between, he likely is spreading it around like Typhoid Mary.

So there you have it. Real life pandemic precautions. Half assed theater. A waste of time and effort at best.

What likely helps is that I am fully vaccinated with Pfizer.
