60 days after being fully vaccinated, I have stopped wearing a face mask completely.
My state, following CDC guidelines said several weeks ago that masks were no longer recommended if you were fully vaccinated so mask mandates have slowly been fading away.
My only public contact is at the pool, the vet, the grocery store and occasionally the hardware store.
All of these places no longer require masks.
Yet the pool still officially encourages them (the city park department will likely change this in July). The other places do not require them for vaccinated people.
Jow that I see over 50% of patron maskless, many workers maskless and many wearing masks under their chins, I feel like I won’t be making others uncomfortable by going maskless.
I must say, I like it.
I like being able to breathe. I like not having steamed up glasses and hampered vision. I like smelling the air. I like seeing people’s faces and knowing they are mine.
At the beginning of the pandemic I couldn’t ever imagine living the way people did in Asia wearing face masks. I never believed we would do that in the US.
Another great prediction of mine.
It feels great to be on the other side of this dehumanizing and performative practice.
