My blog doesn’t have a lot of readers. I don’t use keywords, tags, special formatting or any other search engine optimization techniques to drive more traffic from Google searches. I don’t advertise or promote the site anywhere.
This past year, I’ve had 1500 visitors which works out to 4 visitors per day. My most read posts in 2022 were “Why You Should Always Be Training Your Replacement” and “My Second Inguinal Hernia Surgery and Recovery”. Many of my visitors read only my old Sales Management posts.
Occasionally I hear from a friend, family member or acquaintance who has read my blog. I suppose they do what I do sometimes – Google someone’s name and check out their social media.
That’s all good. I’ve got nothing to hide.
But, for my occasional visitors, please know that I write to work through the thoughts that swirl around in my head. Sometimes I can come across as judgmental, blunt or inconsiderate. Sometimes I am that way. But often, I’m just free flowing my thoughts as I try to figure them out.
If something I write offends you, I most likely did not intend it. If something I wrote seems like I’m judging you or castigating you personally, I’m probably not (unless you are a politician, pundit, or entitled, arrogant wealthy scion).
I spend a lot of time alone with my thoughts and have no one to talk them through with so I use my writing to do this.
I used to do this with my wife. She was an exceptionally fantastic listener, advisor and empathetic ‘people person’ who could tell me when I was veering off the deep end and being judgmental, arrogant or just an a$$hole. I miss her sage council.
So, if anything you read offends you, I apologize. I can’t promise I won’t write something else that’s not offensive. In fact, I probably will.
But you can take solace that I’m trying not to and that almost nobody else besides you and me has read it anyway.
