I don’t enjoy memes.
I find them to be:
- Not funny.
- Not clever.
- Not insightful.
- Not visually compelling.
- Not original.
Try as I might, I have yet to find one that makes me think, laugh or appreciate the satire.
For me, they are like slapstick comedy from old silent movies and TV – over the top, yet banal and exasperating. So I do my best to scroll past memes when I come across them online.
I wonder if I would like them if I was a Millennial or GenZ and had grown up using them.
Maybe. I guess.
However, I’ve always preferred dry humor and wit.
So maybe not.
