The host of the Solo Podcast will be in my city next week to host a live podcast during a Festival. In addition to him, several other listeners from the podcast who are my fellow forum members are joining him.
Since he’s based in Denver, this would be my best opportunity to meet him and some of my fellow solos. I might even get a chance to participate in the podcast.
But I’m not going. I don’t enjoy festivals and this one’s theme in particular, is of little interest to me.
I’ve also been thinking about Covid a little more. Avoiding crowds, indoor spaces with poor ventilation, close contact with strangers and people who’ve recently traveled are all tactics I’ve taken to minimize my risk of exposure.
I’m starting to hear of many people like me (double vaccinated and boosted, never had Covid before) who are now catching Covid. Most of them are reporting relatively mild symptoms and fairly quick recoveries. Nonetheless, if I can avoid getting sick, I will.
I don’t like to cooped up indoors. I don’t like being in crowds. I have no interest in festivals, concerts, live sports, or restaurants. I’m made for solo living.
Or perhaps it’s more accurate to say I’m made for social isolation.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the best podcasts I listen to are those hosted by people who are outgoing, extroverted and social. They share interesting stories, experiences and thoughts.
Even on the Solo Podcast, many of the most interesting episodes are with theist and his friends, who like to party, travel and socialize with groups of people.
I have yet to find a Loner-themed podcast.
Perhaps that’s because loners like me are content to be alone.
