I just removed the Contact page on my site. I did this with comments a few years ago.
After 850+ posts over 6 years, very few people contact me via my blog anymore. And by very few – I mean three people have in the past 4 years.
Those three people all know me. They already had my direct contact information or could easily find it elsewhere.
Over the same time period, there have been 1000s of SPAM/bot contact attempts. Fortunately, my SPAM protection is automated so I rarely even see these messages.
Similar to my data from online dating, the statistics make a glaringly obvious point to me : anyone who wants to reach me can.
The Contact page is only used by bots, SPAMMERs and scammers.
I’m not on any other social media sites. But my contact information is available online (free, I checked) in various places for anyone who’s determined to reach me.
If that’s you – shoot me an email, send me a letter or give me a call. (Note: my current phone number is 919-5xx-xxxx. All other numbers are old and invalid.)
If you’re a direct marketer, a spammer, pitching religion or any other type of solicitor, don’t bother – you’ll never hear from me.
