It is fall in Raleigh so the streets are filled with piles of leaves awaiting pickup from the city’s leaf collection trucks. I’m fortunate to live in a neighborhood whose streets are lined with maple trees, cherry trees and crepe myrtles so there are huge piles everywhere.
Sparkles has an absolute blast when she encounters one of these deep leaf piles during our walk. She leaps into it, bounding like a rabbit. Then she buries her nose under the leaves and plows forward until she eventually squats for a nice long pee before merrily bounding out again.
She is a picture of unbridled glee and pure joy.
I have a feeling she’s going to love deep snow too, if we get hit with a big storm.
As much as I despise snow, it will be fun to watch her play in it.
