Temperatures dropped his week into the 40s in the wee hours of the morning when I walk the dogs. Despite putting on my cold weather gear, I was still shivering both inside the house and outside.
After being here for 6 years, you’d think I’d be used to it. Apparently I’m not.
Instead, I rationalize that I’ve lost a lot of weight, I’m older, and my strict no-carb diet all combine to make me feel the cold more.
As I shivered from the cold, I thought, “this is ridiculous – I need to do something about it. “
First, I put on more layers. That helped. I broke out my fleece lined heavy winter pants and put them on. That helped even more. And finally, I ran my space heater in the garage until it warmed up enough to feel comfortable.
Then I searched online for winter weight workout pants and sweatpants. I found some at Amazon and ordered a couple of pairs. I got them a few days later and started wearing them immediately. I also ordered a couple of winter weight workout shirts. All were fleece lined. Suddenly, instead of shivering, I felt warm and cozy.
It got me wondering…
Would getting through winter be significantly better if I just wore the right clothing? Is it really that simple?
I moved to Florida three different times, in part to escape the long, gray, frigid winters of the NorthEast. That definitely worked. But for reasons I outlined in earlier posts, I have no plans to relocate to Florida a fourth time.
Buying a few more pairs of winter pants and shirts is certainly less costly and far more convenient. I will also crank up the heat in my house a little higher this year
I should have done both many years ago. What an idiot!
It only took me 57 years to figure it out.
