This Is Not The Apocalypse

Posted on September 20, 2025 by Steve Ainslie

I heard someone on a podcast say recently, “This Is Not The Apocalypse“.

I can’t remember what it was in reference too, other than some current event. It’s been reverberating in my mind ever since.

For reasons I’ve written about and everyone already knows, disaster/hyperbole/doom dominate the news headlines. It seems like every story predicts some horrific existential catastrophe is looming around the corner.

Likely it’s not.

Despite my best efforts at limiting my exposure to this, I still occasionally get caught up in the whirlwind of constant doom and gloom news.

I have a plan if the world entirely goes to shit. Short of that, I have always found other options to deal with large and small setbacks.

While not everybody agrees with my personal response for a dystopian world, judging from history, most of mankind figures out how to adjust, adapt and deal with their problems.

So let’s remember first that what makes the news is rare, attention grabbing, fear-inducing and emotionally disturbing stories. These do not affect the majority of us in any way.

If it helps, I encourage you to repeat the line above. It helps me return to baseline and maintain perspective.
