After living for 5 years without one, I finally bit the bullet and bought a portable shop vac. As regular readers know vacuuming is one of my most enjoyable activities. But, I resisted getting a shop vac because I have perfectly good upright Shark vacuum that has a wand attachment (of sorts) which works – kind of.
However, when I need to vacuum baseboards or do a quick spot clean up of drywall dust, the Shark wand attachment is a pain in the a$$.
So I bought a 1 gallon, portable cordless Ryobi shop vacuum last week. It’s my Christmas present to myself. So far I’ve used ot to clean the baseboards of my entire house in 15 minutes, vacuum up the plaster dust after hanging new curtains, and clean out the tracks on my sliding doors. It’s not a beast, but it sucks good enough to get the job done. And it is small, extremely portable, uses the same batteries I have for all my Ryobi tools and takes 2 seconds to setup.
It’s 1000x better than struggling with the Shark. I should have bought this 4 years ago.
