I am no longer categorizing posts. I think I have only been doing this for myself for quite a while. My most recent list of categories was:
- Poetry
- Carnivore Diet
- Family
- Fitness
- Focusing
- Friendship
- Frugality
- Grief
- Health
- Home Repair
- Observations
- On The Road
- Simple Living
- Society
- Single Living
- Work
- Inside Sales Dude
I think no one, other than myself, has had any interest whatsoever in how I’ve categorized my posts.
I initially used categories to help my readers find posts on specific business topics when the blog was Inside Sales Dude. Those categories included Management, Hiring/Firing, Training, Selling, etc.
I collapsed them all under “Inside Sales Dude” 4 years ago after I shut down the business and there was not a single comment, compliant or mention of it. Nor was there any notable difference in my user visits.
So now, I’ve decided to not use categories at all. Let’s face it, my subjects are all over the board anyway.
I also decided to test using Google Search on the site because it displays much better results than the default search engine I had been using. Google search (and occasionally bing or yahoo) is how everyone seems to find this site anyway.
I kind of like the change. As with every iteration of this blog, it gets simpler and more minimalistic.
Like me.
