Anytime I hear someone say, “I am trying to show grace but…”, I immediately think – oh bullshit – because immediately following this phrase is a complaint about some other person’s offensive behavior that the speaker judges as undeserving of grace.
Talking about showing grace is the same as bragging about being humble. If you’re talking about it, you’re probably not doing it.
Showing grace is an action that is the opposite of posting about it online, talking about it or publicizing it. It’s a way of acting during the little and big moments of everyday life, especially when nobody is watching.
They are hundreds of small ways to demonstrate grace every day. You already know what to do. Just do it and don’t tell me (or anyone else) about it.
