US Royalty

Posted on October 10, 2022October 11, 2022 by Steve Ainslie

On the Bill Maher show last week, a guest said that the UK having a head of state (monarch) and a separate head of government (prime minister) enabled the country to have one person serve as a symbol of the country and the other as the chief executive of the government. When Maher asked who would be the “symbolic” leader for the US, the guest said, “Obviously, Kim Kardashian because people in the US Already worship her like the Queen“.

It was a joke – but it wasn’t to far off the mark.

In the past year, I’ve heard many women say they want to look like KK. I’ve heard men describe the “type” of woman they are attracted to as “like KK”. I’ve heard influencers say they want to be like KK.

I am astounded.

I would like to be wealthy like KK (or any other multimillionaire) – of course. Who wouldn’t?

As for looking like her, don’t these people realize that KK’s photos are not real? Even KK does not look like the KK we see in Instagram, Twitter and tabloids.

Anytime I come across a photo of KK, or any of her sisters, the filters, silicon, botox, plastic surgery and photoshop editing is blatant and obvious. Their bodies are unrealistically sculpted and exaggerated. Their skin is smooth like a plastic barbie dolls face. There are no wrinkles, sags, pores, fat or cellulite. To me, they look like creepy alien weirdos.

Then again, when I was in my 30s, I wanted to be rich like Bill Gates (or any number of other tech CEO millionaires who were idolized during the 1990s dot com boom). Part of me even believed I would one day strike it rich with stock options. Even if I didn’t become CEO, I’d be able to retire in my 30s to a life of luxury.

So maybe, worshipping royalty and idolizing someone who, mostly through random luck, “made it” is simply part of growing up.

When I was a child, people often said, “Anyone can grow up and become President some day.“

That’s not true. It wasn’t true then and it isn’t true now. Most people cannot grow up to be President some day. Or CEO. Or millionaire influencer. Or superstar. Or Royalty.

Most of us will probably end up in careers, social positions and financial conditions similar to our parents and the people we grew up around.

Is that bad? Is that good? It doesn’t matter. It is reality.

I’m a little better off than my parents. I made more money and moved up the career ladder a little higher. My sister did the same. But we’re both still basically at the lower end of middle class – or just toughing the middle part of it.

I know some people I grew up with who have done better than their parents. I know some who’ve done worse. Most did about the same.

As for US Royalty, if I wanted someone to represent the US as a symbol, it would not be KK or any other influencer, movie star or vapid personality.

Then again, it wouldn’t be someone born into royal lineage either.
