I’ve been on an elimination run.
- I eat a carnivore diet – eliminating everything except meat, eggs, fish, chicken and occasionally cheese.
- I never turn on my phone ringer, alerts, or notifications – I check my phone and contact people when I want to rather than being subject to random calls, texts and messages.
- I’ve cut back on talking on the phone with my mother and my friends. For the last two years, I talked on the phone to them multiple times each day. Now once a week seems sufficient.
- I’ve pared back my internet usage. Less YouTube, less movie watching, less browsing and less podcast listening.
- I leave my phone at home when I walk the dog. I swim with earplugs in. I turn off the radio in the car.
I am not buying much of anything that I don’t need. I may “want” something but if I don’t need it, I usually don’t buy it.
This focus has made my life substantially more satisfying.
I love my physical condition.
I am enjoying having a hyper-focused mind and thought clarity nearly all the time. (Keto brain?)
I like having amazingly high energy levels paired with highly focused thinking.
Somehow, elimination of many choices has made my life joyful. I’m truly loving the experience of spring this year – from the temperature changes, to the blooming of trees, to the sunshine and the winds.
I like having a predictable, efficient and convenient daily routine.
I’ve stopped worrying about the future entirely. I’ve also stopped worrying that I need to “do something” to increase my social life. My social life is mostly solo and it’s pretty damn good. In time as Covid wanes, I suspect I will have a few more social interactions but I do not anticipate major shifts in my social life or activities.
