Coca Cola and Pepsi lost me as a lifetime customer a few years ago when both took advantage of the pandemic and post-pandemic years to raise their prices 3x. Being price gouged irritated me more than wanting the pleasure of drinking my daily Diet Coke & Diet Mt. Dew. F**k both of them. Goodbye and good riddance. It’s undoubtedly better for me not to drink carbonated water that’s flavored with artificial chemicals anyway. I don’t miss it at all. Occasionally I notice that prices have “dropped back down” to 2X during sales. Too bad. I’m not buying it anymore.
Price gouging, plus my adherence to the carnivore diet has reduced my grocery spending to a few staple items: ground beef, liver, eggs and Chipotle Tabasco sauce.
But over the past few years, I’ve watched the price for Tabasco creep up steadily from $2.99 to $4.99 a bottle. I can afford the extra $2. But what I cannot stomach is a 68% price increase over 18 months. I hate being taken advantage of.
It’s a good thing I have a solution to my dilemma.
Bye bye Tabasco. You can join Coke and Pepsi on the list of companies that have lost my lifetime business.
These won’t be last only list. One thing I am certain about is that corporations will continue to reduce service, increase prices and take advantage of any situation to squeeze more profits from their customers.
My tipping point is pretty low.
I doubt any of them even notice I’m gone. But that’s OK with me. I notice.
