Movie Night

Posted on April 29, 2022June 26, 2022 by Steve Ainslie

I haven’t been to a movie theater in more than 5 years. When my wife was alive, this was because we had abundant options to watch on Netflix, Amazon, HBO and cable TV. I enjoyed watching TV at home with her and our dogs and cats.

Then, after she died and I resettled back in Raleigh, I never got another TV. I only signed up for Netflix for two months when I was receiving from my hernia surgeries. Amazon prime offers me a few shows but nothing particularly intriguing.

The Covid shut down my world for two years.

Now, with Covid numbers very low, it seems safer to go to a theater. So I’d been asking my dates if they had any movies they’d like to see.

The response – crickets.

Well, I’ll just go see a movie by myself then. I’ve been scanning the showtimes for weeks now. Nothing is the least bit appealing.

But sooner or later, some movie will look interesting and I’ll treat myself to a matinee with Dolby surround sound, a huge bucket of popcorn and a Diet Coke.

Perhaps now, especially due to my current injury, it’s the perfect time to start watching movies again.
