New Year’s Eve – I Thought It Was Just Me

Posted on January 18, 2024January 28, 2024 by Steve Ainslie

I have never liked New Year’s Eve. I wrote about it here and here. My preference is stay home, eat take out or something I cook, watch a movie and go to bed at my regular time.

But, I acknowledge I’m a total weirdo. I go to bed early, I wake up early and I spend most of my time alone, contentedly, with my dogs.

What was interesting to me this year was that everyone I spoke to was doing the same thing as I was – staying home, eating something and going to bed early.

Even more surprising was how many podcasters I heard who did the same thing – and these were people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who had families, friends, active social lives, big city residences etc.

Nearly everyone skipped NYE’s celebrations.

And here I thought it was just me.
