Over the past 4 weeks I’ve experimented a bit. Here’s how it’s going:
- Carnivore diet- Great results. I eat eggs, cheese, canned tuna, canned salmon, chicken, ground turkey, and beef (all kinds), and salsa. Since going from a low carb keto-ish diet with some vegetables and fruit to a strict carnivore diet, I dropped from 146-148 lbs to 140 lbs. My energy level is extremely high and steady despite my intense exercise regime. My stomach feels better all the time with very little gas or bloating. And I’m getting ripped! I haven’t been 140 since I was 18 or 19 years old. Once I got into this, it got easier. I eat a lot of hamburger but have added whatever meat I can find on sale. Steak is a favorite for dinner. Still eating too much cheese though. I am going to try cutting it out cold turkey to see what happens because when I don’t pay attention, I can eat 1/2 to 1 lb of cheese in a sitting. When that happens, I feel lethargic and crappy the next morning.
- Phone on Do Not Disturb – Way better than expected. I detailed my reasons for doing this here. But it’s been better than imagined now that I’m a month into it. I only put my phone ringer on when I want to talk to someone. Otherwise, I am undisturbed by calls and texts until I check for them. My workouts have become more focused and take about 30% less time. My mind is free to think about my thoughts vs. the random musings, concerns and issues that my callers want to share. A surprising benefit has been that my friends seem to be solving their own problems or dealing with their bad feelings by the time I get back to them. Before, they would call me the moment they felt bad to share the gloom and doom. Now, they deal with it and by the time I call, there’s often no problem to speak of. I may never turn my ringer back on.
- Talking to Strangers – I have kept up doing this at the pool, waiting in lines, on dog walks and whenever I run into people outside. Almost everyone is receptive and seems to enjoy having conversations. I even had a woman at the pool say to me “Thanks for talking to me” a few weeks ago. I told her it was my pleasure. And it was.
My life is good. In fact, lately it’s been consistently fantastic.
I’ve been thinking about Ellen a lot lately and I’ve been thinking about my old girlfriends a lot lately.
Even though I don’t feel lonely, I miss having a woman in my life.
Not enough to do online dating or even to actively look for a woman, but enough that I’m keeping my eye open for possibilities.
